Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders enjoyed a presentation about traditional Appalachian Music given by members of the Galax JAM program. The Galax Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM) program is dedicated to teaching students (ages 8-14) the music and traditions of the mountains, both historic and modern. JAM offers classes on how to play the fiddle, banjo, guitar, mandolin, and acoustic bass. JAM also hosts visiting demonstrations on subjects such as dancing, singing, and local history.
